WHAT IS A MOOD DISORDER?

Mood disorder is a classification comprising several conditions that impact a person’s affect. Nearly one in 10 people ages 18 and up has been diagnosed with a mood disorder.

Examples of mood disorders include, but are not limited to:

  • Major depressive disorder: Typically known as major depression or clinical depression, major depressive disorder involves periods of extreme sadness, hopelessness, and fatigue that last at least two weeks.

SYMPTOMS OF MOOD DISORDERS

While there are many types of mood disorders, they typically share some symptoms. Common symptoms of mood disorders include:
